2008-04-26 - 6:16 p.m. I tapped out some random words a few weeks ago but never put them up. For now this is going to suffice as an update: I'm learning all (well, some) of the definitions for various types of verbs in English. I'm overjoyed. I now know what transitive verbs are! Alfred Binet, the main formulator of IQ tests, made them to test Parisian schoolchildren to find those of below-average intelligence so they could be helped. He taught special classes and was delighted with the progress his students could make, watching what he called their 'intelligence' increase - and therefore, thinking that intelligence was not a fixed quality but something that was taught and could change. I think that's interesting, that the first guy to use these tests - in fact, the one who made them (along with T. Simon and W. Stern) - basically agreed with the modern argument that IQ tests are subjective and based on skills rather than some inborn quality. Yip! I really want to watch Sweeney Todd again.
